When to Refer to a Specialist

In cases of moderate to severe TMD—especially when symptoms include joint locking, chronic pain, or complex bite issues—we may refer you to a trusted TMJ specialist or oral surgeon for further evaluation. These providers can offer advanced diagnostics, physical therapy, or other treatment modalities such as Botox or surgical intervention if needed.

How We Can Help

Bruxism can occur during the day or while sleeping, often without you even realizing it. Contributing factors may include:

  • Stress or anxiety

  • Poor sleep posture

  • Airway obstructions

  • Bite misalignment

  • Lifestyle habits such as caffeine, alcohol, or certain medications

Night Guards

We often recommend a custom dental night guard, which fits over your teeth to:

  • Prevent wear and chipping

  • Reduce strain on jaw muscles

  • Protect existing dental work

  • Minimize morning soreness and discomfort

These are significantly more durable and better fitting than over-the-counter versions.

  • Limited range of motion

  • Facial tension or headaches

  • Tooth sensitivity or wear

  • Earaches or a feeling of fullness in the ears
